Elaine W did a two day class in curved piecing - looks like s
he nailed it. And those pieced and appliquéd borders, wow! 

And Elaine thoughtfully dressed to match
her quilt - do you find yourself doing this?

A community quilt finish from Helen who finished the
donated pinwheel centre with borders of complimentary
modern prints from her own stash. The pinwheels are
all beautiful Denise Schmidt fabrics.

Three inch hexagons for a baby who lives in Berlin. Should
Janice hand deliver it? The prints and colours are a bit magic.

Julie's machine appliquéd wall hanging is one of her favourite
Michele Hill designs. The appliqué puckered when seen
with monofilament thread, so Julie meticulously removed
 every stitch and re-appliquéd every piece with colour-matched
 Aurifil 50wt thread, and she is much happier with it.

Dawn found the Japanese print blocks in a
donation box, and found there were enough
 for a bag.

In finishing mode, Elaine W made an unfinished quilt
into a finished cushion. Beautiful William Morris style prints.

Jo reprised a very large flying geese design for
a modern king sized quilt.

Nerida showed us two finished top on one day - this is
her version of Sarah Fielke's 'Down the Rabbit Hole'
block of the month.

The colours and fabrics are very Nerida.

Nerida's second quilt top finish is 'Mansfield Park',
from Judy Newman's book 'Quilts for Life'

Lots of lovely feedsack prints in this one.

Jen Kingwell's 'Stardust' design is a favourite of Robin W.
She has generously made another quilt top for our
community collection in her signature vibrant colours.

Around the table - hand sewing

It's always interesting to walk around the room and see what people are working on, including those who say, 'oh nothing, it isn't finished yet!' Of course it isn't 'nothing' and we love to see it all through its making, and at the final grand reveal. A small selection from recent meetings ...

Sometimes the design floor is called into use. Noelle has chosen
the most gorgeous fabrics for these very curvy blocks

Lynette has just a couple of rows of 30s reproduction stars and
white hexagons to go on her granddaughter Charlotte's quilt!

The clamshell border of Marilyn A's
Oakhampton quilt is coming along
very nicely.

Robin B does beautiful applique on quilts and
clothes for her grandchildren. 

Yvette made samples for a class she is teaching.

Julie's mixed hexagon flower blocks, made from scraps
gathered from here and there ...

... and they just all work together beautifully.

The antithesis of scrappy, Marilyn O's hexagon star
blocks are masterfully fussy-cut!

We're still waiting for cooler quilting weather ... 

This is Lyn's third postage stamp quilt, and she says it is
definitely her last. It is magnificent.

Lyn was seen passing on the left over tiny 1 1/2"
squares to another Fairholme quilter this week.

Jan is making a fun Circus quilt for her baby grandson.

Jan's very fine blanket stitch - she is getting plenty of
practice with these blocks!

The fussy cut quilt along currently happening on
Instagram has captured Helen's interest. Participants
commit to a block a week. Helen made six last week.
They do look like fun.

The cat prints appeared in a box of fabric and block donations
to our community project. Julie has added spotty sashing and more
cats in the borders and quilted up a community quilt for a cat lover.
