Viewers' Choice, 2010

Hundreds of people enjoyed our exhibition over the weekend, and the majority of them chose Inspiration from Japan, by Loraine McIntosh for the Viewer's Choice award.

Loraine's beautiful machine appliquéd quilt was made in a class run by Irene Cowie over a period of 2 years. It was quilted by Jo-Ann Phillips of Quiltwise (and Fairholme Quilters). Block patterns were drawn from Circles of the East , The Changing Seasons, and Quilting with Japanese Fabrics.

After the disappointment of her Quilts and Flowers tour to the UK and Europe being cancelled at very short notice on Friday (a casualty of the Icelandic volcano), the award was a welcome lift for Loraine, and it was nice that she was here to receive it. Congratulations!!
