We are now in full 'after the quilt show' mode, getting back to making quilts, and sewing with friends. Last Saturday sixteen of us took some time out for a longer than usual stretch of sewing together, meeting at
Cottage Quiltworks at Warriewood for sewing, lunch, and just a little shopping. Thanks Louise for organising such a lovely, relaxing day, and CQW for hosting us.

We always make sure we have a healthy spread
to keep us going ... Elaine B's date and caramel
slice (in the yellow container) was very popular! |
Louise W brought her quick quilt for her husband Matthew along for Show and tell ... she bought some 5" charm packs from our craft stall, sewed them into four patches and sashed them with a beautiful green. |
Nerida mixes contemporary fabrics and colours with great assurance - this looks like part of a border for her Emma Mary quilt, promising to be fabulous. |
Vanessa is working her way through many pieced and applique blocks for a large hand stitched quilt - isn't her plaid background a winning choice? |
Elaine W cut the pieces and laid them out for a baby quilt - then she began to place yellow hexagons on the darkest squares, and trialled some yellow borders, transforming it. We hope to see it finished before the baby needs it. |
Louise worked on her English paper- pieced trip around the world - two more borders, and then it will acquire checked borders to place it on point. A clever and lovely mix of prints, setting off the traditional design. |
Next, the hexies ...
