Two improv quilts made by Nerida

2023 is Nerida’s third year participating in the Instagram based #30daysofimprovqal run during August by Shannon Fraser  (Shannon Fraser Designs)  and Amanda Burton (Broadcloth Studio).

For this year’s quilt Nerida chose a rainbow colour palette,
and made four improv blocks in each of her six colours.

Block prompts were emailed for each week, along with
suggestions for how to use the prompts for five blocks.
The weekly prompts were stripes, L shapes, triangles, curves.

5” blocks were suggested, but participants
were free to choose their own size.

The turquoise blocks didn’t work on the quilt’s front so
Nerida made them a feature on the back.

Nerida’s latest improv quilt uses small scraps and solid strips … she has generously donated this one to our community quilts collection.
