Community Quilts: the half-square triangle series #3 and #4

We are making a series of stash buster quilts from a collaboratively made collection of half-square triangle blocks. These are the third and fourth finished quilts. The first two can be seen in previous posts here and here.

Our third half square triangle quilt, made from the
community stash has been put together by Carol W,

quilted by Laura and bound by Lynette.
An excellent result from a real community effort.

Sue C wins quilt photography this month - she spent a few days
in the beautiful Blue Mountains, and hung her quilt on a verandah
rail looking over the Jamison Valley towards Mt Solitary.
‘Today's view brought to you by a Fairholme Community Quilt,
which I finished binding yesterday. This was a real group effort
 - lots of people cutting, then making half square triangles.’
Miriam
suggested the lovely centre from fabric which has been
in our community stash. I sewed it together and Laura quilted it.

Community quilts

‘Plaidish’ quilt, designed by Kitchen Table Quilting,
made by Susan Mack. The fabric was chosen from the
community stash by Miriam and Sue C.

Susan’s pieced backing complements both
the colours and design of the front.

Quilted by Laura

Susan Mack also made this quilt with arrow head blocks,
from a coordinated range of fabrics donated
to the community stash.

The colourful zebra print makes a touch of whimsy on the back.

Just a few of the zebras are multicoloured in neons.
Quilted by Laura.

Val has donated her Provençal colours quilt, formerly
a teaching sample to the community collection.

The backing design makes the quilt double sided.

Recent finishes

Val is still steadily working away through her stash - for
this quilt she chose a warm palette, and found
she had quite enough for a quilt of six pointed stars.

The pieced backing complements the front perfectly.
Quilted by Laura.

Julie made this one for a friend. Quilted by Sue Olma.

Laura made tiny quilt-Christmas decorations as gifts
for friends and family overseas.

A pretty pouch made from vintage scraps and needlework,
made by Chris.

Julie has made another baby quilt for a family collection.

After a serendipitous find of the border print to compliment
the panel of owls and foxes, she was delighted to find a
beautiful gingham backing as well. Quilted by Sue Olma.

New community quilts

Robin’s baby quilt in a very appealing colour palette

An excellent finish by Susan M using blocks made by  then
15 year old Elle, who is now 30! Susan added the strips from
the community stash. Quilted by Janet.

The next two quilts were both made by Julie,
from fabric in her own stash, quilted by Laura

A lovely backing found in the community stash.

The second one is also quilted by Laura.
