Community quilts 3 - in progress

Just a few of the pieces we are working on now and over the summer break ...

Very nearly finished - Susan was finishing hand sewing the
binding on a 'SuperStars' quilt made by Dawn, quilted by Laura.

Miriam started a new community quilt from a pattern in a
book she found at the pop-up Lifeline bookshop at Lindfield,
at a bargain price, 'The Big Book of One-Block Quilts',
published by Martingale.

Sue's new community quilt project is a version of a recent
Instagram based sew-along aiming to use up lots of scraps.
We all know how that works! Note - it's not blue!

Julie didn't exactly enjoy making this quilt top, frustrated by
the curves and some confusion about whether seam allowances
were included in the templates, eventually sorted out. Thanks
for persisting and finishing it Julie, we are grateful for the
donation. The pattern was published in Quilt Mania magazine.

We were all curious about this four patch-snowball variation
block quilt made by Lynette, and its stash busting potential.
Expect to see more.
The pattern is Play Ball, designed by Emily Bailey,
published by Quilting Daily. It can be
purchased as a .pdf download here for approximately $A5.

Three donated blocks and a big pile of flying geese were
sewn together by Jill. Miriam donated a length of fabric that
will work well for its backing.Yvette has volunteered to
quilt it on her long arm machine. Team effort.

A return to classes at Cottage Quilt Works this month led to a
shopping expedition in their end-of-bolt shelves, resulting in
an absolute bargain collection of backing lengths for the
community stash. Some are already cut for current projects.

Elaine W has combined machine piecing
and hand applique for her current community project,
which is nearly ready for basting and quilting.
It is an adaptation of a quilt designed
by Rhonda Pearce.
