Australasian Quilt Convention awards

The Australasian Quilt Convention has been held in Brisbane this weekend, after a break during the first two years of the pandemic. The awards were presented on Saturday evening:

The Rajah Award acknowledges the outstanding contribution by an individual to quilting in Australia.

The Shining Light Award goes to a quilter under 18 years of age and is an encouragement award for junior quilters.

The Lut-Da Award goes to a quilter who has made an outstanding contribution to their local or quilting community via the medium of quilting.

Bernina Best in Australia: Catherine Butterworth (NSW) for her quilt ‘Star Crazy’ (Best in Show, Sydney Quilt Show 2019)  


Rajah Award: Pam Holland

Shining Light Award: Matthew Birlenberg

Lut Da Award: Gail Bayly

Hall of Fame Award: Kerrie Hay

On the first day of the Convention, the AQC 2022 Going Green Challenge  winner was announced as Rachelle Denneny for her quilt ‘Harmony in Green’
