New community quilt finishes

Elaine has been an active community quilter for many years, making many quilts. She recently donated two quilts that have been made for some time, and need to be put to use.

Classic floral medallion.

Sixty degree pieced triangles in shades of blue and green,
 suggesting a mountain range perhaps?

Mostly batik fabrics.

Newly finished

We did see Julie’s Lion King quilt finished after expecting
it might have to be sent off to the new baby in Germany
before we had the chance.
The orange binding (a subtle print) frames it nicely.

Quilted by Laura.

Pat scaled the Spool Birds pattern down for a Christmas
decoration, making it a little more fiddly to make, but,
 but a definite contender.

The fabric has some silver touches because it’s for
Christmas, and Pat even sourced some sparkly felt for her crest.
Pat will be teaching a class on making the birds at 60 Stitches
at Warriewood (Northern Beaches) on 18 October -
see their notice on Instagram, Facebook or the 60 Stitches
website for details of booking,

Treehouse Textiles ‘Hexieflip’ quilt combines some of
Nerida’s favourite stitch things - a mix of lots of fabrics,
hexagons (obviously!), scrappy log cabin blocks and
opportunities for hand stitching and quilting. So many options!

Much of the enjoyment in making ‘Hexieflip’ would be in
sorting the hexagons into colour groups and finding
complementary colours for the cabin logs.
