Made by Fairholme quilters

Some spectacular quilts seen in ‘show and tell’ sessions at recent meetings …

Susan has finished her second large quilt using her
Westalee machine quilting rulers. The blocks were made
during an online course, then joined together
with the striped sashing.

Most qulilters are familiar with written and illustrated
patterns, and with  mystery quilts where the end product
is not known but there might be diagrams. Another of our
several Susan’s made this quilt as part of a challenge
where each different block was made from
written instructions only!

Susan is obviously very good at following written instructions!

The disappearing four patch block is a favourite with Lynette.
She has made several for our community quilts collection,
and now she has made this large beauty for own home.
The Japanese indigo fabrics in the blocks were collected in
Japan during many trips to a country she loves and has
previous ties to. The deep cream background compliments the
red and indigos well. The individual squares were originally
cut to 10”, so the blocks are substantial.

The backing is made from different lengths of Japanese
fabrics from Lynette’s stash. The quilt has been
professionally quilted.
