Sewing day!

Some of these quilt tops were pin basted at our recent sewing day - the first since May. We were masked and shortened the time to two hours, which was just long enough for what we needed to do. It was good to be working together again, and catching up in person. Some of the quilting of these ones has already started, so we might be seeing some finishes soon.

Noelle’s very pretty, spring version of Lucy Kingwell
Carson’s ‘Florence’ design.  Noelle hand pieced the
flowers and machine pieced the trellis blocks, which have
fussy cut centres. The colour changes across the trellis
is a brilliant design element.

Susan pieced this clever design that integrates the
single-piece counter panes into the blocks.

Elaine had made some of these appliqued and pieced blocks
some years ago. Lockdown wax an opportunity to devise
the setting triangles and finish the top.

The border fabric was also serendipitously
found in Elaine’s stash.

And there some blocks left over for a second, smaller quilt!

‘Wonky Little Women’ is Jill’s improv version
of Miriam’s very popular design.

Susan chose the fabrics for this four patch-snowballs
variation in the community stash several months ago.
The pattern is Play Ball, designed by Emily Bailey,
published by Quilting Daily. It can be
purchased as a .pdf download here  for approximately $A5.
